Katyayani Mantra Japa

Katyayani Mantra Japa is the anushthan of the Katyayani mantra, the Devi's mantra kept for the prayer of marriage and of a manonukool var, a fitting and desired husband. The parampara knows it as the prayer the kumaris of Braj once made, keeping the Katyayani vrat to seek Shri Krishna as their own. It is offered where marriage is longed for or delayed, and where a family places that prayer in the Devi's keeping. The mantra invokes the Devi as Katyayani, Mahamaya, the great yogini and sovereign, and asks her, as the kumaris of old asked, to grant the desired one as husband. The parampara sets the anushthan at the classical sawa lakh, completed with the dashansh hawan, a prayer offered in reverence to the Devi. At SiddhiStar the anushthan is performed by lineage-trained pandits in the shastriya krama, with your name and gotra carried into the sankalp. The count is chosen at booking, and where a devotee wishes to do more, the parampara allows the anushthan to be raised to a sawa lakh. The rite is sealed by the dashansh hawan, and where hawan cannot be arranged, additional jap is completed in its place.
