Santan Gopal Mantra Japa

Santan Gopal Mantra Japa is the anushthan of the Santan Gopal mantra, the prayer to Bal Krishna, the child-form of the divine, for the blessing of a child. It is offered by couples who long for progeny, through difficulty in conceiving, and where the family wishes to place their prayer for a child in the parampara's oldest form. The mantra addresses Krishna as the son of Devaki, and asks the giver of himself as a child to grant a child to the devotee. The parampara sets this anushthan at the classical sawa lakh, one lakh twenty five thousand japa, completed as a vowed observance with the dashansh hawan that seals it. It is a rite of hope and surrender, the family taking refuge in Krishna and asking, in his own words, for the child they pray for. At SiddhiStar the anushthan is performed by lineage-trained pandits in the shastriya krama, with your name and gotra carried into the sankalp. The count is chosen at booking, and where a devotee wishes to do more, the parampara allows the anushthan to be raised to a sawa lakh. The rite is sealed by the dashansh hawan, and where hawan cannot be arranged, additional jap is completed in its place.
