What Is This Puja?

Roka / Sagai Puja is the rite of the first formal yes between two families: the roka that halts all other searching, and the sagai where rings are exchanged before the gathered households. The parampara gives this moment a sacred witness. Ganesh ji is invoked so the alliance proceeds without obstruction, the sankalp is held by both families with both gotras declared, the tilak of the roka is applied, the lagna patrika or written record of the alliance is honoured where the families keep one, and the ring exchange is performed on the auspicious mantra. Both households' Kul Devatas are invoked, for an alliance in the parampara is a joining of lineages, not only of two people. The puja is performed at the home or venue where the families gather. Gotras of both families are recorded at booking. The rite takes approximately two hours, settling naturally into the larger roka or sagai gathering.

The family may choose to receive the kit at home before the puja date, or arrange the Block 1 items themselves from a local kirana store or home delivery app. Either option is honoured equally; the kit is a convenience layer, not a ritual necessity.
