Vivah Puja

The wedding itself, conducted as the parampara wrote it. Agni as witness, the gathbandhan tied, the seven steps taken: a lineage-trained pandit for the most important vidhi of household life.

Vivah Puja

Overview

What Is This Puja?

Vivah Puja is the wedding vidhi itself: the most important rite of household life, conducted by a lineage-trained pandit of the Gurumandal or Visheshagya tier. The vidhi carries the full arc of the parampara's marriage ceremony. Ganesh ji is invoked, the sankalp is held by both families with both gotras declared, the var is welcomed and honoured, the kanyadaan is performed per the family's tradition, the sacred fire is established as the eternal witness, the gathbandhan is tied, the couple takes the saptapadi, the seven steps around agni, with the vachan guided by the pandit per the families' parampara, and the sindoor daan and mangalsutra complete the bond before the gathered households. Agni is integral to this vidhi, not an add-on: the parampara holds that a vivah is witnessed by fire. Both families' gotras are recorded at booking, and the pandit works with the families on the muhurta and the lagna. The vidhi takes approximately three to four hours within the larger wedding.
SiddhiStar Note
Everything else at a wedding is celebration. This is the wedding: the two hours at the centre of the loudest night of two families' lives, when the music steps back and an old vidhi steps forward. The fire is small and the mantras are quiet, and yet every guest leans in, because the parampara is doing here what it has done for a hundred generations: making two people one household, with agni as the witness that never forgets.
Primary Deities
Agni Dev • Ganesh ji • Varun Dev • Navagraha • Kul Devata (both families) • Gauri ji

Ritual Flow

Understanding the sequence helps you participate meaningfully rather than merely observe.

Pavitrikaran & Achaman

The family's primary member is purified with sacred water and three sips of achaman before the rite.

2

Swastivachan & Mangal Mantra

Mangal mantras are chanted to invoke auspiciousness before the formal rite begins.

SiddhiStar Samagri Policy
The SiddhiStar Samagri Kit (Block 1) is offered as an optional add-on at the time of booking. The family may choose to receive the kit at home before the puja date, or arrange the Block 1 items themselves from a local kirana store or home delivery app. Either option is honoured equally; the kit is a convenience layer, not a ritual necessity.

Important Note

Vivah Puja is conducted at the Gurumandal and Visheshagya tiers only, given the Sanskrit-heavy vivah mantras the vidhi carries. Agni is integral to this rite, not an add-on: the saptapadi is taken around the sacred fire, and the venue must accommodate the vivah agni. The vidhi covers the sacred ceremony itself; the rasams around it (haldi, mehendi, sangeet, baraat) remain the families' own, and the pandit paces the vidhi within the wedding's larger flow. Both families' gotras are recorded at boo
