What Is This Puja?

Durga Puja is one of the most powerful household devotional rites in the North Indian parampara. Performed during Navratri, on Ashtami and Navami days, and at significant family thresholds, it is the rite where Maa Durga is invoked in her full strength as the protective Mother of the household. The puja moves through purification, sankalp, invocation of Ganesh ji, the central pujan of Durga ji with full vidhi-vidhan including 11 paath of the Durga Saptashati (Devi Mahatmya), Kanya Pujan where appropriate, and the formal offering of red flowers, sindoor, and shringar to the deity. At SiddhiStar, the puja is performed at home, or as an Online Puja with the pandit performing live from Narwar Dham while the family joins live from home. Your gotra and Kul Devata are recorded at booking. The base puja takes approximately two hours, with Hawan offered as an optional 30-minute add-on at the time of booking.

Pavitrikaran & Achaman

The family's primary member is purified with sacred water and three sips of achaman before the rite.

Tilak & Rakshabandhan

Tilak is applied and protective mauli tied on the right wrist of the yajman.

Dik Rakshan

Yellow mustard is offered to the four directions to secure the puja space.

For Online Puja, the SiddhiStar Samagri Kit (Block 1) is included by default, as the pandit performs from Narwar Dham with the kit ready. For Ghar Par Puja, the kit is offered as an optional add-on at booking - the family may receive the kit at home before the puja date or arrange the Block 1 items themselves.

Important Note

The puja includes 11 paath of the Durga Saptashati as the central recitation. Where performed during Navratri, the Kanya Pujan is integrated as part of the rite at the family's discretion and extends the duration by about 30 minutes. For Ghar Par Puja, the family arranges the Durga ji murti, the chunari and shringar items, the Saptashati book, the halwa-puri-chana ingredients, and the hawan kund (where the Hawan add-on is opted in).
