Shop Opening Puja

Overview

What Is This Puja?

In the Vedic tradition, commerce is a form of dharma, and like all dharmic activity, it must begin with the right invocation. The Shop Opening Puja establishes your shop's space as a consecrated seat of exchange, where the transactions that occur are sanctioned by the divine. The Kubera element is more prominent in Shop Opening Puja than in Office Opening, because retail is directly about the movement of wealth. Kubera, as the treasurer and guardian of wealth, is invoked specifically at the cash counter or POS area with his mantra and yantra. The Vastu considerations for a shop are different from a home or office, the placement of the cash counter, the direction of the main entrance, and the position of the display racks all have Vastu implications that a knowledgeable purohit can address during the puja.
SiddhiStar Note
"Shopkeepers who observe this puja report not just commercial success but also a different quality of customer relationships. The space has been consecrated for dharmic exchange and people can feel that, even if they cannot name it."

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Dhanteras the best day for shop opening?
Dhanteras (Dhan Trayodashi) is indeed considered extremely auspicious for commercial inaugurations because of Kubera and Lakshmi's association with that day. However, the correct personal muhurat based on the owner's nakshatra should still be verified.
