The Story of Meghnad and Hanuman: When the Brahmastra Bound the Unbound

In the Ramayana, after Hanuman has crossed the ocean to Lanka and located Sita in the Ashoka Vatika, he allows himself to be discovered. His purpose is to deliver Rama's message, see for himself what Sita is enduring, and warn Ravana of what is coming. To accomplish this, he needs to be brought before Ravana - which means he needs to be captured.

The capture comes through the Brahmastra mantra. Meghnad - Ravana's son, the only being other than Indra who had defeated Indra - fires the Brahmastra at Hanuman. The weapon binds him. He cannot move.

But here is the precision of the story: Hanuman could have escaped. He chose to remain bound.

Why Hanuman Allowed the Binding

Hanuman is held in the tradition to be partially of Shiva's substance - the Rudraavatar. The Brahmastra is the most powerful weapon in existence, but it cannot bind a Rudraavatar against his will. What bound Hanuman was not the weapon's force. It was Hanuman's choice to honour the weapon's intention.

This is Stambhan in its most refined form. The weapon was Stambhan applied to Hanuman. Hanuman's response was Stambhan applied to himself - he stopped his own ability to escape, voluntarily, because the unfolding situation required him to remain bound.

What This Shows About Brahmastra Mantra

The brahmastra mantra is the most powerful Stambhan instrument in the Vedic tradition. It can bind almost anything. But it cannot bind something that does not consent to be bound by it. This is the deep mystery of Baglamukhi's power: she does not coerce. Her Stambhan operates with the cooperation, however unconscious, of the being it acts upon.

This is also what protects devotees who use the baglamukhi mantra properly. The mantra cannot rebound on someone whose intention is clear. It can only stop what is already willing to be stopped at some level.

What This Means for Your Pooja

When you book a SiddhiStar baglamukhi ceremony, the Stambhan addressed your way is precisely matched to what is willing to be released. The patterns in your life that no longer serve you - even though you've held them for years - are released, because something in you wants them gone. Maa Baglamukhi completes the release that you have already begun.

Book a Baglamukhi puja with Stambhan applied to your situation.
